Helping clients select meaningful art is one of my very favorite parts of this line of work. Whether it’s a local artist, thrifted art, or work from a child, choosing the right frame can truly elevate a beautiful work of art. However, framing shops can be just as intimidating as picking that “right white” for your room. One of my favorite ways to offset a photograph or sketch is by framing it in a large frame with an oversized white mat. It is so dramatic and elegant, and – inexpensive! Of course, framing has a huge range of price points, but this is an easy one to DIY. For those skilled in an exacto knife, you can simply cut out a white mat board from a local art supply store. Or buy a pre-made frame and pay someone to cut a mat for you. Almost all frame shops offer this as one of their services. Take a look at some beautiful examples – they make such a statement in the room.
