Best Outdoor Murals in Nashville

Over the past few years, Nashville has become a hotbed of wall murals, and new wall art seems to emerge daily. I thought  I would share a list of some of my favorites, along with some favorite things to do in their neighborhoods. Truly, these are all fairly close to each other, but the neighborhood names I have listed will be familiar to the locals. First up, the murals of The Gulch:

What Else to Do in the Gulch: You’re in the Gulch, with tons more to see and do. This is more of a nightlife area, with less family-friendly options. But there is a “what lifts you mural” for tiny people next to this one, which is pretty cute. Our favorites in the area are Burger Republic, Kayne Prime, Station Inn, Biscuit Love, Moto and 404 Restaurant & Hotel (we’ve actually stayed here and loved it).

What to do in the Vandy/12South/Downtown area:  (Did I mention, tons to see and do?) This is a pretty spread out area I’m clumping together. There is more to do than I can mention, but here are a few favorites: The city’s Parthenon in Centennial Park (right across the street!), Fido Coffee, Grilled Cheeserie, Cumberland Transit, Ryman Auditorium, Country Music Hall of Fame, & Tootsies, Pinewood Social, The Pedestrian Bridge, Other lesser known area murals include: “I Believe in Smashville” at Bridgestone Arena,  3rd Man Records, Willie Nelson Mural (378 Almond St), and the Hillsboro Mural – KayBob’s/Pizza Perfect, Hillsboro Village (1602 21st Ave. South)

What Else to Do in 12 South:  Catch Reese Witherspoon’s flagship store, Draper James, (and it’s IG worthy blue-striped-wall) along with my neighborhood favorites: White’s Mercantile, Sprinkles Cupcakes, Las Paletas, Burger Up, 5 Daughters, Portland Brew, Ceri Hoover, Frothy Monkey,  Jeni’s, MAFIAoZA’s, Proper Bagel, and a great little neighbood park, Sevier Park. There are also a few other murals in the neighborhood (Lesser known murals “Make Music Not War” & the “Flower” Mural at Green Pea Salon, 2900 12th Avenue South) and if you are lucky, you can check out the beautiful Amelia’s Flower Truck parked in the neighborhood

What to do in Berry Hill: I don’t know why these murals aren’t more well known. This is my favorite hidden corner of wall art in all of Nashville. There are over 50 musicians painted on fences and walls, all surrounded by a tiny simple park. If you have a favorite classic musician who has made music in Nashville, their faces are probably painted here. Also in the area is a ton of inexpensive lunch options for eating healthy. Your best dining option (hands down) is Baja Burrito, but you will also love local favorites Sunflower Café, Vui’s Kitchen, and Calypso Café.

What to do on 8th Avenue: This mural features musical themes and etherial clouds. This area is right between 12 South and Downtown. On 8th Avenue, you’ll also enjoy Hatch Show Prints, Grimey’s PreLoved Music, Downtown Antique Mall, Gas Lamp Antiques, Country Music Hall of Fame and 3rd Man Records (Jack White’s studio).

What to do in the Sylvan Park / Charlotte Pike area: You are in the Sylvan Park/Charlotte Pike area. You really must visit Climb Nashville if you want a great adventure. Other neighborhood dining favorites are Avo, Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, Salt & Vine, Miel, Thistle Stop Cafe, Bajo Sexto Taco Lounge, Eio and the Hive, and Bobbie’s Dairy Dip. Another great mural in the neighborhood is the Good Food for Good People Mural (4611 Alabama Ave).

The Stay Tuned Mural in East Nashville

What to do in East Nashville or Germantown: This is the best part of town for next level cuisine in Nashville. Great for a date night, but I hear there is some lively night life.  Some of my favorite spots in East Nashville are Mas Tacos, Emil Erwin, Barista Parlor, Olive & Sinclair, Jeni’s, Husk, Rolf & Daughters, Butcher & Bee & Marche Artisan Foods. Other wall murals in the neighborhood are: Stay Tuned Mural (625 Main St) // East Nashville Mural (Eastland & Gallatin) // Octopus (604 Gallatin Ave, Nashville, TN) // Rolf & Daughters (Germantown) // DCXV Industries Nashville Mural (at Center 615’s building) // East Nashville Beauty Supply (714 Gallatin Ave, Nashville, TN)

That’s it for now! What are your favorite Nashville wall murals?
